Zdravim,

na svem FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE-p1 obcas zazivam panic,
a rad bych si vyjasnil Panic String.

$ grep Panic crash/info.*

crash/info.0: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: c9801000
crash/info.1: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.2: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7700000
crash/info.3: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7741000
crash/info.4: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7700000
crash/info.5: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d54c1000
crash/info.6: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.7: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7741000
crash/info.8: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7741000
crash/info.9: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.10: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.11: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d7700000
crash/info.12: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.13: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.14: Panic String: page fault
crash/info.15: Panic String: vm_fault: fault on nofault entry, addr: d54c1000
crash/info.16: Panic String: page fault

Co presne je "page fault" (ani searchovani handbooku ani google neda nic)?

Co presne je "vm_fault: fault on nofault entry"? Mate me hlavne ta
opakujici se adresa - indikuje to fyzickou chybu pameti? Nechal jsem
memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/) projet vsechny testy desetkrat,
bez jedine chyby.

Tyto paniky se dejou vyhradne pri narocnych operacich - make world,
encodovani dvaceti MP3jek najednou, NFS kopie velikych souboru.
Normalni provoz (X, browser, par terminalu s VIMem, semtam kompilace
portu) zatim nikdy panic nezpusobil.

Vetsinou nenastane panic hned, jen obcas neco segfaultuje,
a az za nejaky cas prijde panic. Pri make world typicky dostanu
nejdriv parkrat SEGFAULT pro as(1) nebo cc(1), pak teprve panic.

Ta masina je docela sunka - viz KERNCONF a dmesg.
